What I’m Taking to Prevent (and if necessary treat) the Coronavirus

Honestly what scares me more than catching the coronavirus is the fear, panic and misinformation. The world feels scary and unpredictable, like we’re living a sci-fi movie.

But for the vast majority of people there’s no need to panic.

Please understand I’m not callously dismissing the seriousness of this virus, the worldwide spread, the mounting deaths or tragically overwhelmed healthcare systems.

And as I came to (humbly) learn when COVID-19 first broke out — this isn’t the flu.

Avoiding the coronavirus

So of course you already know a million times over that know your first lines of defense against the coronavirus are: social distancing, washing your hands, wearing a mask and using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.

But there’s something else you need to do to protect yourself (and others).

And I can’t emphasize this enough:

Strengthen your immune system.

See: How your immune system fights off coronavirus (and other germs)

Take silver (but not just any silver) to strengthen your immune system

Ok first I need to say up front that the FDA just issued a warning to companies claiming that their silver products prevent or cure the coronavirus.

Dietary supplement companies are prohibited by the FDA from making statements that their products prevent or cure disease.

But the silver I use Argentyn 23 makes no such claims.

That said, the silver I use is nothing like the silver the FDA mentions.

Argentyn 23 silver is radically different than other forms of silver on the market. But I’m not a scientist. I’m just a citizen who’s seen time and time again that this stuff works.

But my word means nothing without evidence.

There’s hard science to back up the anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties in nanoparticle silver (e.g. Argentyn 23).

It has been reported that silver nanoparticles interact with virus, bacteria, and the immune system.”

Will taking silver turn my skin blue?

Okay lots of people are wary of ingesting silver. This includes my husband who recently asked me, “Hey will this stuff turn my skin blue?” (This is called argyria and it can happen with high doses with certain forms of silver).

The answer is a resounding no, not with Argentyn 23. Here’s why.

3 supplements I take when I’m getting sick

These are my go-to supplements when I feel like I’m getting sick:

  1. Argentyn 23 (a bio-active silver)
  2. Black elderberry syrup
  3. *Extra vitamin D (10,000mg for one week)

If I take these immediately and repeatedly as directed, I don’t get sick. But if I wait too long I at least shorten the duration and severity of my symptoms.

But the reality with the coronavirus is the latter is the more likely scenario.

Unlike the flu which has been around a long time, the coronavirus is new. There’s no vaccine (yet) and our bodies haven’t built up immune memory to fight it off.

So back to why I take Argentyn…

Last year when I asked my functional/holistic MD if she had to pick one thing to prevent and treat colds and flu she told me Argentyn 23.

I’d never heard of it and frankly I was skeptical about taking any form of silver. I’d heard the rumors of people turning blue and I wanted nothing to do with it.

The health benefits of silver have been widely studied for thousands of years, and the effectiveness of its contemporary use for immune support and topical healing applications has been significantly substantiated.

Not all silver is the same

So there’s four basic categories of silver dietary supplements. I only recommend the first, bio-active silver hydrosol.

  • Bio-active silver hydrosol is a mixture of silver ions and silver nanoclusters (the smallest particles achievable).
  • Colloidal silvers are small particles of metallic silver suspended in water.
  • Ionic silvers are silver ions stabilized with other reagents or compounds.
  • Homemade silvers are poor quality, uncontrolled silver concentrations and, thus, the most dangerous.

The most important elements to consider when choosing a safe and effective silver are:

  1. Particle size
  2. Positively charged silver (vs inactive)
  3. Purity.

How silver treats colds and flu

Silver has been shown to have antibacterial properties. But the coronavirus is of course, a virus. Well, silver nanoparticles (super small) also have anti-viral properties.

The use of metal nanoparticles provides an interesting opportunity for novel antiviral therapies…… only recently some studies have emerged showing that metal nanoparticles can be effective antiviral agents against HIV-1, hepatitis B virus, respiratory syncytial virus, herpes simplex virus type 1, monkeypox virus influenza virus and Tacaribe virus.

As I mentioned, attack your cold or flu right away.

I mean at the very first sniffle and the second you feel run down. Even if you’re blissfully lying in bed about to doze off. Don’t wait. Take these:

1. One teaspoon of Argentyn 23, 7 times a day. Hold under your tongue for
30 seconds.
2. Two teaspoons of black elderberry syrup 4 times a day.
3. Ten-thousand mg of *vitamin D for 7 to 14 days.

Great, but where’s the science?

  1. That is really helpful info. Thanks for

  2. Oops. Thanks for taking the time to do the research. So much of the info out there is feeding fear, which creates a psychic virus that predisposes us to physical stuff.

    • So true. The collective fear is spreading. Thanks, Amy! Argentyn’s form of silver (bio-active, positively charged) is radically different than colloidal silver (inert). The FDA’s recent warning letter to companies who sell silver won’t help spread the benefits of Argentyn 23 (nanoparticle, bio-active).
